Flight Velocity — Terms of Use

Important: Flight Velocity is an informational and entertainment app. It is not a certified aviation instrument and must not be used to operate or navigate an aircraft, for flight planning or for any safety-related decision.

1. Provider and Scope

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the Flight Velocity mobile app (the “App”), provided by:

These Terms apply to all users. The terms of Apple, Google or the store you downloaded the App from also apply to the download and to purchases.

2. Acceptance

These Terms and the Privacy Policy are available at any time in the App menu and on this website. By using the App, and in particular by purchasing Flight Velocity Plus, you agree to these Terms. The Privacy Policy explains how we process data; it is information, not something you need to accept.

3. What the App Does

Depending on your device, permissions and subscription, the App shows information such as ground speed, altitude, vertical speed, heading, attitude and G-force derived from your device; records flights and statistics; keeps a Flight History; prepares flights with maps, weather, offline content and points of interest; shows a short highlights preview of your route; and presents travel facts during the flight (for example by the in-app copilot “Pelican”). Features and their accuracy vary between devices and operating systems.

4. Not an Aviation Instrument

The App is not an aviation instrument, avionics, navigation device or other certified aeronautical product. Do not rely on it for piloting, navigation, operational flight planning, collision avoidance, weather decisions or any other safety-related purpose. Always follow certified aircraft instruments, official information and the instructions of the airline and crew.

5. Accuracy of GPS and Sensors

Values come from consumer GPS and phone sensors, which are not certified and may be inaccurate, delayed, incomplete or unavailable — for example because of GPS reception in the cabin, distance from the window, calibration, device movement, power saving, permissions or operating-system limits. All values are informational estimates, not aircraft measurements.

6. Recording, Flight Detection and Flight History

Tapping Start begins a recording session. The App then evaluates movement and sensor signals automatically to decide whether a genuine flight took place; this detection may occasionally be wrong or inconclusive. Background recording cannot be guaranteed: the operating system, battery management, lost GPS reception, closing the App or turning off the device may interrupt it, and records may be incomplete. Flight records are for personal information and entertainment only and are not official aviation records.

Flight History is stored on your device. Access to the Flight History screen may require Flight Velocity Plus; flights recorded in the free version may become visible once Plus is active. We cannot restore data lost through device loss, reset, deleting the App or storage errors.

7. Prepared Flights and Offline Content

A prepared flight is not an official airline or air-traffic-control flight plan. The route actually flown may differ substantially; distance, remaining time and route information are estimates. Offline content is only available if its preparation and download completed before you lost connectivity.

8. Travel Facts and Third-Party Data

Facts, points of interest, maps and weather come from third parties such as Wikidata, Wikipedia, Mapbox and MET Norway, and some facts are automatically reworded to be shorter and easier to read. Third-party data and automatic rewording may contain errors or be out of date or unavailable. This content is for general information and entertainment; weather information must not be used for aviation decisions.

9. Free Version

The free version offers the basic instruments and recording, contains advertising and includes a short highlights preview of your route. Other features require Flight Velocity Plus.

10. Flight Velocity Plus

Plus unlocks premium features such as flight preparation, offline route content, Flight History, Automatic Start and an ad-free experience while your subscription is active. The current benefits are shown in the App before purchase. Features may evolve over time while respecting your contractual and consumer rights.

11. Subscriptions, Prices and Renewal

Plus is offered as an automatically renewing monthly or annual subscription, purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Price, currency, billing period and taxes are shown by the store before purchase and may differ by country. Payment is charged to your store account. The subscription renews automatically for the same period unless you cancel it in time according to the store’s terms.

We do not currently offer a free trial. If a trial or promotional offer is made available in the future, its conditions will be shown before you accept it.

12. Cancellation

You can cancel at any time in the subscription settings of the store you purchased from (Plus subscribers can also reach them from the App menu under Manage Subscription). Cancellation stops the next renewal; Plus remains active until the end of the period already paid. Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription.

13. Restore Purchases, Refunds and Right of Withdrawal

You can restore an existing subscription in the App. Purchases are processed by Apple or Google as the seller; refunds and the statutory right of withdrawal for consumers in the EU are handled by the respective store under its terms, which it provides at purchase. Nothing in these Terms limits any consumer right that cannot legally be excluded.

14. Promotional Plus Access

We may grant complimentary or promotional Plus access at our discretion. Such access may be limited in time and does not create a right to continued free access. It does not affect a subscription you purchased.

15. Advertising

The free version shows ads from Google AdMob. Plus subscribers see no ads. Details about advertising and consent are in the Privacy Policy.

16. Airline Rules and Acceptable Use

Follow applicable law, airline rules and crew instructions on electronic devices; do not use the App where device use is not allowed. Do not use the App unlawfully, bypass payment or entitlement systems, interfere with the App or its services, attempt unauthorised access to backends or overload services by automated means. Restrictions on reverse engineering apply only as far as permitted by law.

17. Intellectual Property

The App, its software, design, graphics and branding are protected by law. Third-party content, trademarks and data belong to their owners and may be subject to their own licences. These Terms grant you a personal, non-transferable right to use the App; they do not transfer ownership.

18. Availability and Changes to the App

We may update the App to improve functionality, security, compatibility or content. Features may be added, changed or discontinued where reasonably necessary, respecting your contractual and consumer rights. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability of the App or of third-party services.

19. Liability

We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, under the German Product Liability Act and where we have given a guarantee. For slight negligence we are liable only for breach of essential contractual obligations (obligations whose fulfilment makes proper performance of the contract possible and on which you may regularly rely), limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this type of contract. Otherwise, liability for slight negligence is excluded. In assessing any use of flight data, the informational nature of the App described in sections 4 and 5 must be taken into account.

20. Privacy

How we process personal data is described in the Privacy Policy.

21. Ending Use

You can stop using the App at any time; this does not cancel an active subscription. We may restrict access where reasonably necessary to protect the App, its users or infrastructure from misuse, fraud or unlawful activity.

22. Changes to These Terms

We may change these Terms where reasonably necessary, for example because of changes to the App, the law or store requirements. We will inform you of material changes in advance in a suitable way (for example in the App or in the store’s release notes); where the law requires your consent, we will ask for it. The current version and its date are always available here and in the App menu.

23. Applicable Law and Dispute Resolution

German law applies. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of the country where you habitually reside. We are neither obliged nor willing to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board (§ 36 VSBG).

24. Severability and Contact
