Privacy Policy — Scan Price
Last updated: August 10, 2026
Scan Price ("the App") is a currency conversion and price-scanning app.
This Privacy Policy explains what information the App accesses, why, and
how it's handled.
Information the App accesses
- Camera: used only to scan price tags on-device via
optical character recognition. Camera frames are processed locally and are
never uploaded or stored.
- Currency region: the App may suggest a currency from
the locale/region configured in your device settings. This does not use GPS,
Location Services, geolocation, or geocoding, and you can select the currency
manually at any time.
- Purchase and subscription data: if you subscribe to
Scan Price Pro, purchase processing is handled by Apple/Google and by our
subscription management provider, RevenueCat. RevenueCat receives a
device/account identifier and purchase receipt to validate your
subscription — see RevenueCat's
privacy policy.
- Advertising: the free version of the App shows ads
served by Google AdMob, including a rewarded video ad you can optionally
choose to watch for a temporary usage bonus. AdMob may collect device
identifiers and usage data to serve and measure ads — see
Google's Privacy Policy
and AdMob's data
disclosure.
- App Tracking Transparency (iOS): on iOS, the App asks
for your permission before using the advertising identifier (IDFA) to show
more relevant ads and measure ad performance across other apps and
websites. If you decline or haven't responded, the App still shows ads,
just not personalized to your activity elsewhere. You can change this
choice at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Consent management: users in the EEA, UK, and
Switzerland are shown a consent form (via Google's User Messaging
Platform) before any personalized advertising or analytics collection
begins, in line with GDPR requirements.
- Analytics: the App uses Firebase Analytics to collect
app-usage events (e.g. which features are used, scan and subscription
activity, language/currency selected) to help us understand how the App
is used and improve it. This does not include your camera feed, scanned
price content, or precise location — see
Firebase's data
handling and Google's
Privacy Policy. Analytics collection only begins after the consent
steps above complete.
- Crash and error reports: the App uses Sentry to
collect crash reports and error diagnostics to help us fix bugs. These
reports may include device information and app state at the time of the
crash, but not your camera feed or precise location — see
Sentry's Privacy Policy.
- Exchange rate data: currency conversion rates are
fetched from the Frankfurter API (a free, open exchange-rate service). No
personal data is sent with these requests.
Data storage
Your shopping lists, scan history, and settings are stored locally on your
device only. We do not operate a server that stores your lists or personal
usage history.
Children's privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly
collect personal information from children.
Your choices
You can disable camera permission at any time in your device settings; the
App will fall back to manual price entry. You can select currencies manually
at any time. You can restore or manage your Pro subscription from your
Apple ID / Google Play account settings.
